A letter to my teenage self

Don’t grow up

There’s death

Everywhere

All the ones you love

They die

With no warning

With no words

You’ll love deeply

But hurt even more

You’ll find happiness

Just so it can be taken away.

Don’t get attached

They’ll leave

Don’t fall in love

They’re mortal

In one moment

They’re your everything

But tomorrow

They don’t even exist

To my teenage self

Believe me

We tried

We did our best

We thought we were right

Instead

We should’ve died

We should’ve never

Given the world

A chance to

Smash our hearts

There’s only

That many times

A heart can break

Before it hopelessly

Stays apart.
