A House is Not a Home

A house, Is Still, Just a building. A home, Is A feeling.

I simple house with the title of the poem slit, half on top of the house half below. This is on a black background with traces of roses peeking through.

“Home

Is where

The heart is.”

That is

What they say.

A saying

While

Old,

Cliché,

And simple,

Cannot,

Be more true.

For

What is

A house,

But a structure?

You can,

Decorate it

All you want.

But

At the end

Of the day.

It’s still,

Just

Some walls,

And

A roof.

Just with

Some,

Personal touches.

While,

It maybe

Cozy.

Whatever that

Means to you.

It

In itself;

Is

Not

A home.

A home

Is love.

A home

Is care.

But

Most importantly,

A home

Is where,

You feel

Like you belong.

A home

Is where,

The people

Understand you.

A home

Is where,

The people

Care about you

A home

Is where,

The people

Love you.

A home

Is where,

The people,

Let you

Be you.

A home

Is where,

The people,

Let you

Be happy.

A home

Is where,

The people,

Let you

Feel free.

A home

Is where,

You simply

Fit right in.

A home,

Is a community.

With,

An undeniable bond.

That

May,

Or

May

Not,

Be

Forged

By blood;

But

Of

A different,

Type of

Kinship,

That of

Something more.

An aspect

Of oneself,

Shared

In the home.

When with

Those people,

That is

When,

You truly are

Home.

No matter,

Where

You might be.

To those

Lonely souls,

To whom,

This

Does not

Ring true.

From

The bottom

Of my heart.

I pity you,

I truly do.

Lonely.

Lacking

A family,

To call home.

Given,

Or

Found.

For you,

A house

Must do.

Though you can

Decorate it,

As much

As you please.

To try

To fill the void.

You don’t

Even know,

Exists.

But

A house,

Is

Still,

Just a building.

A home,

Is

A feeling.

And having

A home,

Is

The greatest

Feeling

Of all.
