In the quiet strength of twilight’s glow,
Where shadows fade and soft winds blow,
There stands a man with a heart so true,
A guiding light in all we do.
With hands that build and arms that shield,
He turns life’s soil in love’s vast field.
Through trials faced and battles fought,
His wisdom by hard lessons taught.
His voice, a calm amidst the storm,
In his embrace, we find our warm.
A rock, a fortress, strong and kind,
A hero with a selfless mind.
He works with courage, day and night,
To make our burdens feel so light.
His dreams he sets aside for ours,
Nurturing our hopes like flowers.
In laughter shared and silent tears,
He’s stood beside us through the years.
A father’s love, profound and deep,
A treasure in our hearts we keep.
So here’s to you, our guiding star,
Our hero, just as you are.
With gratitude, our hearts we raise,
To you, dear Father, endless praise.

Silence
I don’t remember the day the world ended. But I do remember the day I noticed. That photo was it, but I did not know what it meant until I sat in my darkened bathroom, staring at the newly developed film. The street was neither empty, nor abandoned. It was dead. The colours of the flowers wrapped in that red ribbon caught my eye, and as I crouched to take that photo, I could hear only the lonely silence of a graveyard after dark.
