A Grieving Candle

Say It Again

He likes to light a candle to ward off the demons

The ones he battles every night

In a bed so cold that no one sleeps

Not even the fluffy dog

This grieving candle has consumed his life

His mother died, his father lost the power of speech

Along with his sister

They all decided to leave his private world

He is no longer in his kingdom

This grieving candle has consumed his life

Every morning he is at work

A workaholic, he never gives up

He tries to understand this world

From the perspective of his own universe

This grieving candle has consumed his life

Every call is like a gift from God

He helps as best he can

Relying on the mercy of others

Completely forgetting about himself

This grieving candle has consumed his life

His sweeping needs clamour in the narrow hall

He pushes them all away

To distant places where no one cares

And so, he too accepts this without regret

This grieving candle has consumed his life

One day, he will come face to face with his demons

The ones he hid deep in the closet

They stare at him like unsatisfied children

He has a great deal of work ahead of him with them

This grieving candle has consumed his life

He blows them away into the cold, dark night

When the time comes, he will not hesitate

He will shape them according to his wishes

He will be the king, and they will be his servants

That day will surely come
