A Grain of Sand

A Drop in Eternity

By Dan R FowlerPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

A Grain of Sand

With eyes dimming and wrinkled hands,

I look and feel the day’s time as sand.

Each grain is small but yet undeniable,

It’s what I am evidence unbelievable.

Upon this world, each trod unceasingly,

Questioning words and ideas continuously.

But, alas, the answers are not right or wrong,

Are still being written for the throng.

This grain of sand that I profess to be,

Has felt emotion’s depths many without glee.

Some smudge the windows of my eyes it’s true,

Causing illusions and fantasies to ensue.

This grain of sand I’ve been created to be,

A speck, a dot on a canvas called eternity.

With strong conviction, I seek to know more,

Yet, if truth be known, my soul does soar.

I remain on this beach of time and eternity,

Alive or dead, I’ve been given an opportunity.

A place in the grand scheme of things ordained,

One of life that my soul continues to proclaim.
