washing out city light
make way for the day.
Simple routine tasks
candle lit bath
warm tea in the shade
farmers market trades
floral scents
bakery chefs
friendly aromas.
Soft grass to walk on
leather strap sandals worn-in
silent city buzzes
soft breezes caress
a day goes by endless
night will never pass.
Artificial light leads way
meet for drinks?
Okay
fruity sharp bitter sweet tangy taste.
Stark white dress
against black underpass
cars beam by
trailing tail lights.
Laughter lasts forever
good tunes and weather.
Cab ride home
soft cat silent home
plush bed hugs
thoughts of today
lull into sleep.

Stuck in Place
Amy whistled as she walked through her front yard, looking for any sticks she could pick up and throw into the pile she and her brother were making. They had a big windstorm recently; as such, all the trees in their yard had suffered some damage in some loss of sticks. Or perhaps losing those sticks was a good thing since their trees probably needed to be pruned anyway. Amy wasn't sure.
