A Ghost in My Own Skin

Far from home

By ObiPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

It’s easy to lose yourself,

Like a leaf caught in the wind,

Twirling in the gusts of voices,

In the rush of places you’ve never been.

You wear the masks they hand you,

Tightly strapped, no room to breathe,

The echo of their expectations

Drowns the whispers of what you need.

The world spins in a dizzying blur,

Social feeds and flashing lights,

You lose your shape in their reflection,

Chasing perfect in endless nights.

You forget the quiet spaces,

Where your soul once knew the way,

Now you follow paths prescribed by others,

Lost in crowds, you fade away.

But somewhere, deep inside you,

A spark still flickers, soft and bright—

Though it’s easy to lose yourself,

It’s never too late to find your light.
