A Future for the Kids

Just a couple of thinks

By Donny FoleyPublished about a month ago • 1 min read

And as I look into your eyes O inheritors of the earth I see a future not meant for thee

The future that could have been was bastardized by those who knew they would not see it, all for the sake of their own comfort

But fret not, for there is hope

There are, certainly, people like me who will not accept the future laid out for you

There are those of us who would dash ourselves upon the rocks of indifference and the cliffs of malice over and over to ensure a pathway made of determination and broken bones was laid out for you

For when I look into your eyes oh inheritors of the earth, I see not one but two futures

The one that was bastardized and you

You will be the future

You will make the changes

You will help those in need

You will inherit not only the earth but also the radical optimism that we entrusted to you

That although there will be those who will try to prevent you from reaching the future meant for you, you will be stalwart, unassailable, as you march toward that which is yours by birthright

You will attain a future those in power did not want for you, because they only ever want from you
