A Friend, Turned Foe

I should've let go of this rope a long time ago, instead of seeing it to the end.

i reached the end of this rope long, long ago

i have nothing but frayed ends in my hands now

hope,

has taught me true dread

hope,

has turned my skin red,

stole the blue from my sky,

and the brown from my eyes,

burned my heart,

and left it black‐

darker than the sky above on the night i turned my back,

on hope for turning me over,

to void's company‐

now gravity is my guide

i fall with the waters that come from the clouds

i fall and i fall,

never to come into contact with the ground

but continue into this abyss‐

hope, a friend turned foe

far, far away i can see a glow

hope's bridge,

burns a gorgeous blaze

if i hadn't parted,

i'd be left in that haze

doomed to hope's cruel ways

no more, can hope torment my days,

disturb my nights,

or blind my life‐

no more, can hope lie to my face,

and taunt my back-

if vengeance were mine,

hope's existence,

this foe of mine,

would be no more

i would've burned this rope

long, long ago

About the Creator

JM

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
