A Freak Of Nature

One nobody will ever understand

She hides from you her intellectual mind

Preferring you see her as a shallow being,

You hear her words but you don’t listen

You blindly nod your head while agreeing.

***

She’s whole worlds, as she is on her own

Alternate realities you’d only dream about,

She lives in thunderous scorching laughter

Hiding safely as she continues to freak out.

***

Each world scorches off a piece of her soul

As she scampers about in her imagination,

She befriends the outcasts, one and all

Boss of each reality as her sordid creation.

***

She rides eagles as they swoop from a high

Hangs with the herd, mates with a panther,

Her ferociousness infamous to all who feel

Leave be the questions, not like the answer.

***

She’ll hang with you awhile, then disappear

Leaving you wondering to which of her stars,

A freak of nature as she gets lost in the night

Gathering together her heartbreak and scars.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
