A Forgotten Year

Senior Year's Curveball

By Dustin Edmiston Published 3 years ago • 2 min read

The summer is over and autumn here.

For students the fear of a new school year.

For me it’s one more chance to make right.

The past that went wrong, and to shed new light.

On present times that make an evil thought.

And the battle that is now, always fought.

For me it is the true love that’s not seen.

Though when asked I say all is “Peachy Keen.”

But when all is said, deep down I still hurt.

For the one I love is just a great flirt.

The autumn is gone and winter cold.

The season is new with tales to unfold.

With new maturity brings forth-great hope.

Of my love, cleaning her way with soul’s soap.

True it may still be awhile for the change,

But my love for her won’t fade like the range.

For the love I have is true through and through.

And I hope in time she will catch the clue.

That inside I still hurt from pain she cause.

For my heart is crushed, by my love’s two flaws.

I bury my true feelings in my soul.

With the hope they will fade with the bells toll.

My love is hidden from the world and me.

It waits for the one who will set it free.

When I try to hid the love that I feel.

She brings it back with false hope that’s not real.

I ride the roller coaster of true love.

It is stuck down, and it’s caged like a dove.

I wish I could tell the words of my heart.

So that she’ll understand my soul gone tart.

The winter gone and with spring comes new life.

My heart mends old wounds cut by love’s hot knife.

The pain of the past is now hidden low.

My life can go on, with new light to glow.

Restarting my life I look to my past.

To correct the flaws that I made too fast.

I hope this time things will change for the best.

I will take it slow and wait like the rest.

I will wait for love to find me at home.

Though traveling sounds nice, perhaps to Rome.

The spring is gone and here is summer’s sun.

The last school year is over, time for fun.

This summer will be the last with my friends.

For we’ll depart at the sad summers end.

For college is where we are headed now.

Though we are ready and have the know how.

For me a reputation that is new.

The rep. that was bad is known here by few.

An old name re-born helps me change my ways.

A reputation new, I hope love stays.

My heart has been crushed and repaired with time.

My life has turned sweet from a bitter lime.
