A Dip At Night

Random Thoughts #33

Top Story - December 2025

Quiet falls over the still lake

Flames lick the edge of the shore

My eyes catch the melding of light and dark

My grip firms on a half-empty bottle

Amber drops spill on the sediment

Two more bottles lie by the fire

One casts a viridian glow on the site

One starts to melt, casting toxic fumes in the stale air

Will the capsules melt, as well?

Who knows? Who cares?

The servant cannot serve two masters

The old one gave unnatural peace

The older one releases real pain

My feet feel the warmth on approach

My cheeks reflect the glow on fresh tears

The bottle tumbles from my hand

Natural fuel erupts like a solar flare

The lake draws attention

Fire and ice tug on both arms

Ice pulls harder, fire's grip weakens

Falling

Stillness broken

Quiet

Quiet

Emergence like a new birth

Eyes drawn to the flames reflected

A peaceful sigh

A new beginning
