A Defective Definition

ADD and Mental Health

By Sloane PearcePublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Labels

Extension cables

Tether me to the ground.

Name tag

Confidence lag

Restricting thoughts pound.

Titles

Wretched idols

Clinging to worth not found.

Matter only matters

If you believe in it.

Worth isn’t worth it

Till you conceive it.

Characteristics

Are just personal statistics,

But they don’t make you who you are.

Symptoms

Only make you victims

When you let them define you.

Disorders

Can’t give you orders,

Unless you hand them the remote.

Emotions concoct potions

That can eat away your soul.

Deficits only discredit

What self-esteem we hold.

And yet, the tag still sticks.

The tape doesn’t fix.

The label feels like bricks

When you accept you're an unstable mix.

You see…

Holding onto a label

Takes two hands to stable.

But are we willing to drop it?

Or are we fumbling with the locket?

Are we clinging

To a broken meaning,

So we don’t become exposed,

Average, “no name” joes?

Fabricated labels

Lead to reconstructed fables.

When seeing is believing,

Self-respect is fleeting!

Then what the heck am I?

Just ask the Great I AM.

The one who designed you with gifts

To glorify His kingdom on Heavenly cliffs.
