A Day at the Seaside

A Day Trip to Blackpool

By DAVID PRIORPublished 9 years ago 1 min read

Mam cancelled the milk today,

We are going to Blackpool just for the day,

I've been sitting on the prom eating fish and chips,

Out of yesterday's paper with yesterday's tips.

The seagulls are squawking as they swoop down for food,

I gave them some tip bits as I am in a good mood,

It's a warm day as I think about the past,

Building sand castles on the beach that were not made to last.

We used to come here often when I was a lad,

With sister, brother and mam and dad,

Eating ice cream cornets, or enjoying warm summer days,

It's just a fond memory, but I hope it stays.
