A Cure to Misgivings

Empathy shines through bleak ignorance.

Footsteps once forgotten echo in the cave.

Sounds, like words, bounce from wall to wall of the cranium

Till I'm sick of it.

Runny nose and a soar throat

The result of our intimate intellectual indulgences.

Lies are common.

Knowledge is contagious.

So I seek out a doctor.

To cure this absence of ambition

Or maybe I just need a new prescription.

But my diagnosis isn't really that atrocious.

Nowadays hardly anyone has 20/20 vision.

Or rather visions.

Of tall trees resting on hills of homework that I never did.

Wind blows and pages dance in the night sky; catching stars.

Rose petals, like lost lovers, floating by.

Carried by the breeze, my paper wings are at ease.
