She keeps in her purse
A picture of herself
When she was young and thin
*
On her keychain is a keepsake
From an old lover
She can't quite let go of
*
Everything she wears
Is a well chosen memory
*
That spark of light in her
eyes is from the first time
she found herself dancing
*
And that ball of healing energy
she holds in her palm
was a gift from an old friend
*
Her dress
Woven from failed affairs
Patterned by mistakes
Looks good on her
She wears it well
*
Her smile
Never changed her
or gave her away
Probably the only memory
From childhood she keeps
*
She is made up entirely
from her memories
and sets about eagerly
making more
