A Certain Feeling

Rare, but Perfect

There’s a certain indescribable feeling felt on rare occasions of perfect awe.

Standing in the punishing sun,

shirt tied around your waist,

hair matted and eyes wide.

Anticipation built over months of tireless waiting,

excitement brewing deep down,

heart rate rising by the second.

Music starts,

and elation envelopes your very being.

For the certain indescribable feeling I am trying to muster into words is only felt in rare moments when you find yourself in a sea of bodies, staring incredulously into the distance.

While you stand in amazement the vibrations of tones, and notes, and rhythm, dynamics, and harmony ripple through your senses, blocking off entry to senseless outside worries.

For that moment, those few hours spent in the presence of live music take you away, far away into an entirely new world.

A world in which you can’t be touched.

Harm cannot reach this marvellous land.

The ability to comprehend an idea of such a place isn’t commonplace,

few can establish such a connection to mere waves of energy.

For those who can, the escape is breathtaking.
