A Broken Sonnet about Breathing
On Love, Loss, and the Air Between Us

Everywhere my breathing
becomes your breathing
and your breathing
becomes my breathing,
like windows sharing
the same morning air.
And when my breathing stops,
yours continues,
carrying an echo
into someone else's breathing.
And their breathing becomes
your breathing
and remembers mine,
like wind that leaves one tree
only to stir another.
Even though my breathing
is gone and still.
