a broken night’s dream

A poem

By Beki CoweyPublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

I fall, it feels electric

Static bites at my skin

Trees are animals

With acid trip faces

Movements contorted

Branches tear at me

Pulling me here

But never going there

The moon owns my step

Makes tide of my body

Liquid light flares

Burned in my eyes

Scorched in my mind

But the cool waters

Snap at my feet

The pool is a mirror

A thousand narcissi

Kaleidoscopic, fractured

Through broken glass

Seven year nightmare

Lasts only a moment

Dissolves to nothing

White room, white sheets

Low sun on his pale skin

Nothing is ever real

Except what you see

surreal poetry
