i could never repay you

for all you've done for me

And you did it anyway

And you would do it anyway

No matter what

i remember all you've told me

as if i could even forget

the best of humanity

wrapped in humility

you design things

buildings

interiors

spaces

you renovate things

buildings

interiors

safe places

you create things

calm from chaos

safe from shrapnel

freedom from fear

confidence from chains

clarity from smoke and mirrors

correcting with kindness

i can even hear your eye rolls now

through the phone

and i try to laugh silently

but i know you know i'm laughing

and then you try not to

you are extraordinary

when it comes to

intuition

empathy

problem-solving

knowing what needs to be known

doing what needs to be done

you were most definitely

sent as a helper

you are an indomitable spirit

and have an uncanny sense of

who we are and

what is best for us

you are right

even if we amateurs disagree

but you see what no-one else does

in an amazingly ethereal way

you've talked me off ledges i

didn't even know i was on

you've encouraged me endlessly

and without fail

you've always believed in me

when i don't believe in myself

you know every trap door in our minds

and what's behind them

a mysterious God-sent mix of

heaven and earth

and i wouldn't trade you

for the world.
