A bit of Solipsism

The quality of being very self-centered or self-ish, is sometimes good for the soul. Obsession. Villanelle.

Villanelle of Solipsism

I turn within myself ~ myself becoming my entire whole,

The mirrors all bend ~ displaying the beauty that I seek,

A selfish silence ensues ~ self admiration garnishing my soul.

~~

The outer voices fade, ceding me control,

Their endless chatter thins, their echoes weak,

I turn within myself ~myself becoming my entire whole,

~~

The self, a lantern lit against the shoal,

Its flame may flicker, yet it will not fade,

A selfish silence ensues ~ self admiration garnishing my soul.

~~

Though some may call it pride, a heavy toll,

I find in solitude the truths unique,

I turn within myself ~ myself becoming my entire whole,

~~

No greater gift than hearing self’s parole,

The inner tide, the language deep and sleek,

A selfish silence ensues~ self admiration garnishing my soul.

~~

So let me guard this inward, secret role,

The world may wait while I, alone, still speak:

I turn within myself ~ myself becoming my entire whole,

A selfish silence ensues~ self admiration garnishing my soul.
