A Being of Spirit

A fragmented life in motion

A being of spirit. You tug lightly at the leash

right – left – forward – a little back

the nose in constant use

You do what dogs do best

You are my dog!

.

I listen in the evening hour

the dull program on TV

channel one – channel two – forward – a little back

I find no rest

That is what I do best

.

Coffee and a biscuit

not to sin and eat chocolate

angel and devil bargaining – forward – a little back

strength and weight loss

That is not always what I do best

.

I check my phone

notifications on social media

chatting with a stranger – back and forth

in the endless vastness of cyberspace without disappointment

That I am more or less used to

.

Out into real life

a daring step into a swaying world

doing something for others

out of selfish self-concern

Maybe I will become good at that

.

Meeting people in every way

openness in the heart gives the soul credit

to endure my loneliness

when the notifications fall silent

Then I can endure

.

I may be lonely

or rather just alone

my own company is still of value

and the dog pulls me forward

Luckily, she is good at that

.

I listen into the turmoil of the evening

Ping — and good evening, here are the news

Your voice I still hear

even though you are not here

I suppose I always will

.

My search in life continues

forward – a little right – a little left

backwards I do not know

choices are made and only the future exists

That is the motto of my life
