A Beach Memory

by Gaille Hunter

That black and white photo I’ll hold so dear

The sand, the sky, the sea and sails

The wind and waves, the gathering gulls

Soft breezes teased

Horizon framed hand in hand

Neatly nestled grains of sand

In proper place and proper time

As years between you and I

Only a shore for resting waves

Is death so vast a hidden sea

Illusions ending you and me

Horizons chase eternity

And life, as sand - to be not held

These moments of love do surely tell
