A Ballad of Earth and Sky

The Song of the Wild Country

By Tim CarmichaelPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

Where the rivers carve their winding trails,
And the morning climbs the hill,
There lies a realm of ancient tales
Where the world grows calm and still.

The forest keeps its hidden lore,
The meadow guards its name,
The wandering winds from shore to shore
Carry a timeless flame.

A thousand seasons have passed that way,
Yet the valley holds its grace,
For every dawn and dying day
Leaves wonder in its place.

The eagle circles the endless blue,
The deer moves through the shade,
The brook runs clear where the wildflowers grew,
And the paths the creatures made.

No hand has shaped the mountain stream,
No voice commands the rain,
The wilderness follows its own great dream
Through sunshine, storm, and pain.

I walked beneath the towering pines,
I watched the heavens burn,
And learned that nature’s grand designs
Are lessons we return.

For man may wander far and wide,
And chase a distant goal,
Yet the earth remains a faithful guide
To the restless human soul.

So sing of the valleys, the rivers, the sky,
Of the creatures that roam free,
For the wild will live long after we die,
A grand and endless melody.
