Ticking Clocks

By Katrina ThornleyPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Free these veins

From chains

Formed by

ticking hands

And growing sums-

Beat, beat, beat

The heart

With songs of smiles

and wondrous thought,

Chase the firefly

Through these woods

Of wander

In the midst of lovely dawn.

When the sun breaks

Splinters gray sky

With burning red and gold

Beat, beat, beat

The heart with paintings of wild

And stuttering shadows.

Release the firefly

Shift to flutterby

With delicate wings

Meant to go

Sea to sea-

Wander from the woods

Your newborn path

Rise with the sun

Find the truth

Outside the ticking hands

And growing sums.
