60.66 Years

A Runaway Feeling

60.66 years may also feel like

degrees of separation from a different

time when years were not as important as love and

lust, not necessarily in that order, as

the alphabet is restrictive like a long strike

going nowhere in the scheme of all ignorant

things, especially when it comes to land and manned

and all the rest of that imitative pizzazz

-----

60.66 years may seem like a long

time for someone much younger and dying next year

from complications, as oncology strives to

impart, often ironically for the sake

of the field and its fundamental dance and song;

that much is known and unknown, yet rattlingly clear

like the Sun in the Sahara or the same new

moon moving from sliver to smile that is still fake

-----

60.66 years may appear like a

blessing to those counting the seconds and the half-

lives elapsing on a sand-free shore where many

stones lie on each other like lovers in mourning

as one of them died while the other wrote, in the

annals of his mind, a short story with a laugh

at the end thanks to a literary twenty

years between them in time lived without much warning

-----

60.66 years could have been enough
