500 Kisses
A Poem

In the last two years,
We have laughed about nothing much at all.
We've smiled coyly and walked hand-in-hand
Like love-struck teenagers.
Our bodies have been entangled,
Whether watching music videos or sharing intimacy.
I have tasted your lips 500 times.
I have experienced the scents around the river
Where we first walked together.
I have heard you call my name -
Music to my musical ears.
Yet, I know these are but figments
Of my vivid, broken imagination.
Two years without your
Smile
Laugh
Touch
Lips
Might as well be 500.
**
On the second anniversary of my husband's passing, may he rest in peace, this poem is my 500th piece on Vocal.
