trust me i know,

for i ask the question

at least 5 times a day.

always hoping for an explanation,

something more than a simple colour.

so i guess i'll start.

elizabeth, what is your favourite colour?

"blue", i answer, thrilled someone asked me,

a slight smile forming on my lips.

"not just blue the colour, but the feeling.

the feeling of the waves lapping at your feet,

while looking at the ocean, almost olympic

and the sky, cloudless and cerulean.

blue is existence;

for the animals that find shelter,

the humans that sustain on the colour,

and the plants that grow and change

through the life-giving

properties of blue".

the person walked away,

but yet i still reflected on blue.

i wish there was a better name

than blue.

something that encompassed everything i felt.

i thought about how the world swims with the colour,

almost everywhere i turn,

and giving life everywhere it touches.

i trace my hand, then to my arm,

up to my neck, feeling the upward path.

then to my stomach

and legs, the downward path.

I try to imagine the flow of water

throughout my entire body.

visualising the energy pathways

of the life giving

properties of blue.

i laugh aloud.

realising that blue is not just the word blue at all,

it is the colour of life.

so the next time, you think to answer that question

of favourite colour,
