Verses on the Modern Day High School Struggle

Gotta keep it in

Your problems aren't the same.

Not big enough, hard enough

Don't take the same

Toll as theirs.

Your voice is too small, to ever reach a crowd;

But don't be too loud,

They'll just shut you down.

Say you're disrespectful

That your opinion is invalid

Cause you didn't say it right

Or cause it made someone mad.

They call you:

Stupid

Ugly

Good for nothing

Fat

Ugly

Weak.

But don't be fooled-

You're just overconfident

If you stand up for yourself, if you speak.

You get trash thrown in your direction

And it makes you start to feel

Like maybe you're the trash;

Maybe that's why they do it-

Why you only exist when they want to tear you down.

That's why nobody notices

The pain behind the smile,

The tears behind the makeup.

Because no one cares to ask the trash:

"How are you feeling?

Are you eating?

Does it hurt when all they do with their words is beating?"

Keep it in.

Be Strong.

Don't show the pain.

This is high school kids,

Not a feel-good campaign.
