2 hours 38 minutes Static

Good morning my love,

I woke today still clutching the holocube

Its picture as clear as the memories we made

That night on the pier when I proposed,

Your caramel hair whipping across my face

As we kissed in the dark beneath the lighthouse.

A pleasant dream, that’s how they feel

Those memories of times before

The great expanse of space and time

Stretched out between us.

I hope you slept well too.

* * *

It’s afternoon now my sweet,

and I’m drinking a chocolate protein shake

While the steady flow of ice boulders spin

Like giant steppingstones below my ship.

They glisten and shine in the watery light

From the distant Sun, like the aquamarine

In your engagement ring, that we chose

In the antique mall on Crosby Street

So many moons ago.

Such greens and blues and crystalline

As clear as your eyes when you told me goodbye,

Shimmering with tears and love.

***

Goodnight my love,

It made my day to listen to your message

And hear the news from far off Earth.

How brightly you describe the parties,

How wonderful to know my mission is celebrated

Though I cannot be there by your side.

I focus on my work, but often my mind drifts to you

My beloved,

And the honeymoon on the Space station

Where we marveled at the tiny blue planet

That we call home.

Saturn has its own beauty, but lacks the softness

With its dusty hues and swirling storms.

Sleep well my dear, and dream of me,

As I’ll be dreaming of you.
