2 AM

based on the hurricanes in the summer of 2024

By Isabella WalkerPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I couldn’t help but stare at the trees

swaying with the breeze of the night sky

like the soft spin of a child's mobile

as it begins to rock me to sleep

I’ve had a drink, or two,

and that becomes apparent

as I lay on the dew-covered grass

beginning to shed a tear for the beauty

of the rustling leaves

and whispering trees

someone, please save me

take me from this life

where a deadly storm

brews states away

can cause so much pain

can create so much dismay

and only allow me to feel

its mist dance along my face

to the never-ending song

of everything above me
