111-Word Story: Unending Slinky

Born from a challenge to myself

By Gabriel B. ShamesPublished 2 months ago • 1 min read

Samson, a curious boy who loved outdoor exploring, had an unusual 12th birthday.

Along with presents he was excited about, he received an old-fashioned slinky and set of Jax from his uncle.

He lived near an over-grown industrial park, now highlighted by reddish dirt and green foliage over rusted metal.

He met with his group of bicycle boys outside of town. After they had to split for dinner, he rode with his best friend Rodger to the industrial ruins.

They found a bizarre man-hole construction with a loose lid.

Below? A spiral staircase down into the Earth.

Samson let the slinky go.

Down… down… down… down….

Darkness!

Still sound, won’t end.
