A Poem

Disconnected and unaffected

Deflecting deflection from every direction

It’s the inflection in your voiceless choices

That have left me joyless

Recoiling from callus recoillessness

Going nowhere as we stare into the abyss of our existence

Unending repetitive unrepenting

Hiding behind venting as a one sided chiding

Dividing my mind

Into the awakened and the blind

Wounded gnashing teeth

Justified by their belief in their grief

Bravery no longer my slavery

A solitary tree

Hiding on the mountain top

In hopes that no one ever comes near again

My leaves harvested

My branches slaughtered

My trunk slain

I sit here resting and roosting

Boiled down to a nub with roots

And a bit of hope

The hope that one day

I can reach for the sky again
