I'm sitting out here listening to
a chorus of crickets
on a cloudy night
the veiled moon
peeking through the tree branches
the stray cat was waiting for a snack
i haven't seen any rats in my barn
since he showed up
so he can stay
the sunset was an ongoing spectacle
i couldn't help but notice
but I'm wired to notice things
the good
the bad
the ugly
the awkward
and i wonder
if the heavens speak to us
to me
do they hear me?
are they listening?
i'm convinced that
they do
and they are
the moon is peeking
from behind the clouds
and i think he just winked at me.

βThe heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world.
In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,β Psalmsβ¬ β19β¬:β1β¬-β4β¬ βNKJVβ¬β¬
