Thinking about

the firsts in my life

that i dug out of boxes

nailed shut in the

back of my mind

and there's no

first love

among them

i made it through almost

my whole life without

that one

recently someone

mentioned my age

in terms of

" life experience"

and i had to

cut off the laugh that

partially came out

of me and

reframe it as

a cough

in some ways i've been around

long enough to have

barnacles but

in an emotional sense

i'm still a child

learning to walk

and talk

learning that squares don't

fit into circles

learning that real love

can't be persuaded

isn't a usership

a moment of lust

a physical connection

a superficial

a conditional

a deception

a taken for granted

nope

learning that real love

is synchronous

spiritually sound

transcends physical

stabilizing

unconditional

understanding

patient

God-given

apparently it's my time

to start experiencing

the firsts

that i never got before

so i'll keep

plodding along

because that is

my superpower

and quit

trying to steal

the pen from

the Author

writing my story

we don't own time

we can't buy time

or sign on it

He gives it to us

and makes a way

for us

as it is already

written in the

Book of Life.

Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait , I say, on the Lord!” Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV
