i peeled back

like a delicate flower

layer by layer

thought by thought

touch by touch

word by word

afraid but

unafraid

until

the last layer

slowly dropped

in slow motion

my heart uncovered

afraid but

unafraid

sent a signal

received

otherworldly

a safe place

a home

a melding

tangible pulse

of intangible

synchronicity

not written in the clouds

or in pebbles in the road

or signs on the highway

but in secret places

only He controls

our lifeblood

our pulse

our heartbeats

where they land

where they stay

unforgettable.
