You went out under
the cover of darkness
seeking the light
knowing the truth
separating the light
from the heavens
the Word spoke to you
your spirit awoke
illumination
revelation
one hundred pounds
you carried
of myrrh and aloes
bound to the earth
wrapped in aroma
reverence
mystery
sorrow
redemption
scents lingered
on stone
Word rising
did you see Him?
did He show you
where metal met light?
your secret broke loose
from earthly fear
you spoke the Word
to the dust.
Nicodemus.
