in an astral drift

among the stars

i can feel my spirit shift

as we float along my scars

within my heart's ' reckoning

through my mind we sift

so many thoughts beckoning

from somewhere deep in a rift

once upon my heart's quickening

a star sparkled high in the sky

my startled feelings thickening

binaural drowns out a silent sigh

in an astral drift

among the stars.

"Still life is still life" by Eda Hartley

Author's Note: The song in this video above is a " vagus nerve binaural beats" song and this type of music is helpful for anyone who deals with anxiety or overthinking, or insomnia. Take a listen and see what you think. I find it very soothing-

"When two tones of slightly different frequencies are played in separate ears simultaneously (usually through headphones), the human brain perceives the creation of a new, third tone, whose frequency is equivalent to the difference between the two tones being played. This auditory illusion is called a binaural beat. For example, if a person hears a tone of 405 Hz in one ear and a tone of 415 Hz in the other, they would be hearing a binaural beat with a frequency of 10 Hz.

Binaural beats are said to provide many of the same benefits as meditation: lowering stress, increasing focus, aiding sleep and relaxation, boosting mood, assisting with pain management, and fostering creativity. However, some of these claims are preliminary or not yet supported by scientific evidence."(Devich, 2026)
