Moon & Venus at sunset

The sun has dipped below the horizon

the earth still warm from her gaze

the moon looks down as she departs

and she gives a flourish of her fiery gown

as she bids him adieu

knowing he'll hold her light until morning

he was made to reflect sun's light as if

it is his own.

the treasure God has entrusted him with

since the fourth day

an ancient celestial shift change

do you ever look up at the moon

and marvel at how he holds the sunlight?

how he holds our secrets

our hopes

our dreams

our midnight confessions

even our fears

i think of David singing of the heavens

declaring the glory of God

and that they speak day and night

have you ever spoken into the starry sky and

somehow felt better or enlightened

afterwards?

i go out many a night and just gaze

up at the moon and all the stars

and pour my heart out

they don't even try to hide behind a cloud

when they see me

and i always go back in the house with some

wisdom that i didn't have when i

went out there

did i talk to myself and become wiser?

or did the heavens answer back and

communicate with my spirit and soul...

David stood under the very same sky

thousands of years ago and felt it too

the sun, moon and stars have purpose

they're not up there twiddling their

twinkles just for something to do

and the Bible is full of references

to the workings of the heavens

the celestials guided the Magi to Bethlehem

and so much more

i have given the sun and the moon genders

right or wrong, that's just me

they were created for us

and i can't help but look at the sky

day or night and not see

God's goodness written all over it.

We don't look up enough.

β€œThen God said, β€œLet there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;”Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

β€œThe heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,” Psalms‬ ‭19‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NKJV
