So what is true love?
i ask myself that a lot
i know what it's not
it's not sex
anyone can do that
for selfishness or even
selflessness in a fit of
giving too much
it's not physical allure
the " prettiest" can spend hours
in front of a mirror
putting on a mask
a veneer
that hides their
real self
it's not a fake connection
where people
fabricate common ground
it's not a morphing into
who you think they want
it's not flashy
it's not fake
oh, no...
it's much deeper
it's a safe place
where you can be
your authentic self
no labels
no expectations
calm
covenantal
peace
patience
understanding
acceptance
a meeting of minds
a synchronicity of souls
two hearts harnessed
into one beat
not of this world
a place where you can finish
the other's sentences
a realm that only you
can go to
most people wait a lifetime
for a lifetime like that
some grab the ring
some watch it in the rearview
but the truth of
the matter remains
God never makes mistakes
with true love.
