Making a video or film is not just taking out the camera and start rolling, there are several important stages to create a video or film. It is a detailed process. There are three main stages in video production and each stage has its steps. This is the reason it’s called video production.

Videos are becoming more popular in most industries. The percentage of using videos in businesses has increased from 59% to 83% in just two years. This increment is just because the video has incredible power to create more engagement, brand value, and conversion. People are more likely to watch videos rather than reading the long content.

Let’s know the three main stages of video production

The three stages are Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production.

1. Pre-Production:

Pre-production is the phase of planting the seed of your video or film. It means it is the most important initial stage of your video. Here you need to be clear about your goal, target audience, the initial concept of the video, crafting planning. Practical planning is also included in this stage like casting, set, budget.

1. Have a clear vision:

What are you trying to achieve with this video?

2. Fix the target audience:

Who are you want to watch your video?

3. Clear message:

What do you want to say to your audience?

4. Writing the script and the storyboard

5. Logistics:

First, decide the production budget.

What type of set do you need to produce your video.

Who will act in your video?

You need to find out the perfect answers of these questions in this stage.

After crafting all the planning then you have to move to the next stage which is ‘’Production’’.

2. Production:

This is the stage where you will keep out your camera and roll. In this stage, you finally shoot your video. It may take a day, a week, or months to make the film. At this stage, you will need equipment, personnel, and time. These are the main keys to this stage.

1. Make sure you have got the right kits and set. All the filmmaking equipment is working perfectly.

2. Creating a schedule for set up, film, and pack up.

3. Keep your filming environment safe and secure for all of your team.

After receiving all the raw footage, keep that save in hard drives and make multiple copies as soon as possible.

Now it’s time to edit all that footage. So, time to moving to the next stage which is ‘’Post-Production’’.

3. Post-Production:

This is the final stage of the video production, where the filming stops and editing begins. All the editing and manipulations like picture editing, sound editing, visual effects, graphics, words, adding music are done in this stage. This is the phase where the final touch will be given to your video to make it perfect. So, make sure that you are using the proper editing software and tools.

A good video production company has all the latest software and setup to create your video.

The editing is highly cooperative when you are making a video for your client. In this time phase, it needs a lot of trust between the client and the production.

After the completion of the video production, you will need additional short versions for distribution and promotion.

Although these three are the main stages of video production, it’s important to keep in mind all the smaller steps under each stage.
