Spiders On My Truck
Spiders On My Truck By Roberto Alago Working animals and pets share a special bond with their handlers and companions. Often, each can anticipate the actions or reactions of the other. They seem to sense each other's feelings and at times, express joy or sadness in reaction to the other's actions, behavior or mood.

When you live in the country everyone is your neighbour. So, when I say that in the Spring of 2004 our neighbours lent us a goat, I'm referring to the family that lived a hundred meters up the road.

Turtles are single-minded when in pursuit of a goal. I’ve had 25 years to observe this phenomenon, and expect to continue these observations for another 15 years. Domesticated turtles have long lives, although calling them “domesticated” might be pushing things a bit. Turtles do what they want to do. They take the stereotypes of cats to the utter limits.

It's a Bull When Rosie came to us we knew she was pregnant. Having a baby calf on our new farm sounded great. We got Rosie on Easter. She was so sweet. We knew she was due in May. Every day she would moo. So my husband and I decided to get her a friend. We got Maggie a Dexter cow and her baby Chestnut. Rosie was amazing with Chestnut. She treated it as her own. Rosie takes care of everybody, the goats, cows, and calf. So as time went on, May approached. We could see Rosie was huge. We were thinking about why she has not given birth yet. Two weeks later my husband and I headed to bed. We heard a moo. We looked at the camera. Couldn't see well but we saw something. We got our shoes on. Went out to the barn at midnight.

“I have this goldfish. He’s a sort of corpulent, tangerine coloured Goldfish about the size of a tennis ball. I keep him in one of those little spherical tanks in the living room. He’s not the most exciting fish out there, nothing as flamboyant as a siamese fighting fish, or as colourful as the mandarin fish, but he’s got personality.
Owning Pet Rats
I decided to become a rat mum on a whim. I realized later that this was not a mistake per se, but I probably would have benefitted from doing my research before making the two-year commitment my boys would ensure. Just because they are a little pet, rats are not by any means low maintenance. I found this out the hard way.

{My non-entered entry to the Member's Only Challenge, enjoy!} When I was 24 I decided to follow my dreams and find the dog I always wanted growing up. I would look for an Alaskan Malamute mixed with a Wolf. Wolves have always been a great fascination for me even from my earliest memories. My parents showing me drawings from when I was three talking about the “wooooolvs.” I have always loved the fact that they can survive on their own or together as a pack. Something everyone growing up identifies with, that struggle to find yourself and feeling alone. Always on the hunt for relationships with others who understand your true self. That hunt for your pack and the freedom it brings. What better relationship could that be then that bond between a dog and their owner.
