Remember, Pets Are Not Just Pets.

They Require Health Care Too

I don't claim to be 100% knowledgeable in caring for every animal on the planet, though I have cared for dogs, cats, birds, and hamsters.

I love all animals and reptiles, though I would never purchase any animal without considering whether I could care for it properly or afford its medical needs, which require the use of Vets

Let us talk about Chameleons.

These beautiful Lizards can be very eye-catching. They are fascinating creatures. They require proper habitat, care, and handling.

In order to care for any pet properly, you must be able to be able to afford the vet fees.

My daughter owns a Bearded Dragon and two Chameleons.

One of her Chameleons is quite unwell because his previous owners could not afford the fee to get him checked out by a vet.

Let us get straight to the point.

Many people who I know have Chameleons buy them because they look good in their homes or they are fascinated with them. However, when purchasing these types of pets, they do not consider the expense of looking after them.

They do not understand how to care for their pets. They purchase them under the notion that it will be easy and think they will not need much care.

My daughter spends a lot on her pets. She loves caring for them, and she is not on a big budget.

She has spent a lot of money on food, and providing the right habitat so that her pets will thrive.

However, one of her Chameleons is really unwell because he has not been looked after properly by his previous owners who could not afford to pay for him.

In my opinion; that is a lame excuse for neglecting a pet.

You would not neglect yourself when you are unwell, or in need of medical attention, so why neglect your pets?

I understand that the cost of living has affected everybody living in the world, but isn't it kinder to give your pets to someone who can afford to look after them if you can't afford to anymore?

If you own a pet who is unwell, then the RSPCA can help you to provide low-cost care.

My daughter has two children, and she is not on a very high income; though she is taking her Chameleon to see a professional so that he can get the help he needs.

She is also scared that he might not survive.

She had no idea how unwell her pet was before she got him because the previous owners did not know what was wrong with him.

She is aware now, that he has been unwell for quite some time.

These previous owners also have other pets.

When you purchase multiple pets, you must accept the fact it is going to cost you more to care for all of them.

It is unwise to purchase multiple pets if you will end up not being able to care for all of them or be able to afford to get help when they are unwell.

Pets are like humans, they require help with their health from time to time.

Everybody struggles with money from time to time. It is not just people on low income, but people who have held wealthy-jobs are struggling today.

This is not an excuse to be neglectful of your pets.

Your pets should be loved just as much as the rest of your household. They deserve to get the care and attention they need so that they can survive, and live healthy and fulfilling lives.

Today, I ask you all to think before you buy any pets.

Can you really afford to care for them?

thank you, thank you, thank you, Carroll! I have been a foster parent for medically, fragile, pets, and have owned pets all my life. And all the points you made are very good points. Don’t get a pet just because you need a companion; definitely not for showcase – think about the expense, think about the food, think about the vet bills, think about the companionship factor – because they need you there with them. If you have to go on a trip, you need a highly qualified pet sitter. All of these factors should be considered before you bring pets into your home and thank you so much for writing this.

What you say is true, pet care requires money and time, it may sound strange to talk about this, but the truth is your life and house organization change completely and anyone thinking of getting a pet should ask themselves, am I ready for this?
