AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) estimates in the statistics of 2017–2018 that approximately 38.4 percent of American households have a pet dog. This is a considerable percentage. But the question is: can it be dangerous to have a pet dog? — yes, it can be. Because dozens of diseases can make your pet sick or cause you to ail. Following are the most common diseases, their symptoms, and their treatment.

1. Itchy Skin:

The medical term PRURITUS means to have itching or scratching. Commonly dogs can be found in this disease. This is a simple disease like the humans have but too much irritating. However, it can sick your dog (thankfully not cause death in most cases). It occurs due to an allergy, like Fleas allergy dermatitis, which is the most common illness in dogs. A flea is a tiny insect that sucks blood, especially warm blood. The second is MITE allergy. A spider-like insect. Then it can occur because of an allergy to soap or perfumes, and last but not least, it can occur due to food allergies and environmental allergies.

Can It Be Cured?

It depends upon the condition of your pet. Some pets own it from their races (generations) which is approximately impossible to be cured. But commonly, it takes weeks to months to be healed. It has a process of finding fleas and mites and other infections. It can be removed totally, but in some cases, it can only be controlled for the time being.

West highland white terriers, Cockle spaniels, and Poodles are the standard races of dogs that have this disease. Now the second disease on the list is,

2. Kennel Cough:

One of the contagious diseases of the dogs is Kennel Cough, which causes a heavy cough, lethargy, and gagging (Its most common symptoms).

This disease can spread quickly from one dog to another. It can sick other dogs in shelters, in the natural reproducing process between dogs and through the air, and in many ways. It depends upon the immune system of dogs if they can cure it by themselves. Older dogs are unlikely to prevent it due to their weak immune system. Sharing blankets and bowls can also spread it.

Treatment:

The simple treatment for this is vaccination at the time of rescuing your dog from a shelter and making sure to have a distance from sick or ill dogs. Antibiotics can play a significant role in controlling this. You are supposed to have strict eyes on your pet; if you feel laziness in your pet, make sure to take it to the vet so that you can get to know if he has pneumonia.

3. Rabies:

The most brutal one is Rabies. Actually, this is a state in which the pet acts un-normally; it barks and tends to bite others. This fatal disease happens because of the rabies virus, getting bitten by any other infected animal and even from their saliva. It can have extreme results if not taken care of before the time.

Symptoms:

Its symptoms can be: Feeling pain most of the time, Hyperactivity, Tingling, Fever and burning at the wound, heavy aggression, restlessness. He can also start licking, chewing, or biting his body part. But its symptoms cannot be seen immediately; it generally takes eight weeks to indulge in it fully. This period varies from 2 to 8 weeks. It can be diagnosed (if he does not show his insanity) after the animal’s death by taking the test or samples of his brain tissues.

Treatment:

The most dangerous thing about this is that it does not have any complete treatment yet, which makes us worried more than any other thing. Even if any rabid dog bites or scratches any human, he can also get this disease. It is strictly recommended in many of the cities, states, parks, and dog owners to compulsorily vaccinate their dogs to prevent them from this untreatable disease (The most straightforward way that you can follow).
