Devon Rex

These cats have big ears and their bodies are thin. They look a bit unusual. They can quickly learn tricks and love to have their humans around. These cats are referred to as people-orientated snugglers that enjoy cuddling up to their owners at night and will wake them up with hugs, kisses and purrs of affection in the mornings. Devon's love to have cat toys tossed at them and ten-fold return the love their owners shower on them.

Abyssinian

This is one of the oldest known cat breeds. These cats aren’t lap cats, but are very intelligent and loyal to their humans. These are quiet, intelligent, and curious cats. They enjoy human company. Abyssinians enjoy space and are very good climbers. If you have a garden they'll enjoy the trees and high places.

Sphynx Cats

Since these cats are hairless they are a good choice for those who are allergic to cat hairs. They are mischievous and playful and love the company of humans. Sphinx cats are energetic and can be even acrobatic when showing their affection. They are basically indoor cats and get along well with both children and other pets.

Scottish Fold

These cats are known for their unusual folded ears. They are easy to take care of and adjust well to all climates and other animals. These cats have even temperament and are not overly active. Scottish Fold cats are sociable and very friendly and love playing games and exploring and when it comes to love will enjoy cuddling up on laps.

 

American Shorthair

These cats do great in families. They are affectionate and don’t require a lot of care. They can live for over 15 years. These cats are wonderful companions and easy-going. American shorthairs are very loving cats and attach themselves to all family members.

Maine Coons

These cats are large in size and are trainable and smart. Their tufted paws and big ears make them unique. These cats are known to be friendly, affectionate, and a bit silly. They enjoy being around family members. Maine coons are always obedient and will come when called.

Persians

These cats need a lot of brushing so their coats stay luxurious. They don’t prefer to climb or jump. These cats are gentle, docile, and quiet. They mostly give their affection only to people they trust, Persians want regular meals and just enough playtime to satisfy them.

British Shorthair

These cats are affectionate and quiet. They have dense coats, large round eyes and a sturdy build. These cats are pleasant to have as companions. British shorthairs are very loyal and loving and will be very affectionate with all family members.

Ragdolls

These cats are known for their blue eyes and large size, They learn tricks easily and come in four patterns – bi-color, van, mitted, and color point. These cats are gentle, calm, and sociable. Ragdolls become very devoted to their owners.

Exotic Shorthair

A very popular cat breed. They have an easy-going nature and a rounded “teddy bear” appearance. Their coats are soft. Exotic shorthairs have a personality the is gentle and calm. Exotic shorthairs are curious and playful and are friendly to other cats and dogs. They do not like to spend their time alone.

Siamese

They have been popular since the 19th century. Originating from Thailand. They are very intelligent and vocal. These are among the most vocal cats and will attempt to converse with their humans. Siamese cats are loyal, loving and enjoy human companionship.

Amazing Wild Cats

The Pallas’ Cat (Otocolobus manul) is also known as Manul. These wild cats are about the size of a domestic cat but since they have dense fur they appear heavier, They are thought to be the oldest species of cat evolving about 12 million years ago.

The Sand Cat (Felis margarita) makes its home in the deserts of Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and western Asia, They are also the size of a domestic cat with thicker and longer fur. Sand Cats have fur growing between their toes similar to Arctic cats, Their fur gives them insulation for the paws against the environment. The fur also keeps the paws protected from hot surfaces.

The Caracal (Caracal caracal) makes its home in Africa and Asia. The name of these wild cats originated from the Turkish word "karakulak" which means "black ears." Caracals hunt at night and will attack animals that are two or three time their size such as antelope.

The Canadian Lynx (Lynx canadensis) is a wild cat with very thick light brown or gray fur that has light black spots, These wild cats have large ears that have long black tufts at the ends and their paws are very large.

The Serval (Leptailurus serval) is a four-foot wild cat that lives in Africa. These wild cats are believed to be the ancient ancestors of both the lion and the cheetah. They are highly intelligent and have small heads and long legs. Their long legs help them to chase prey through the grasses.

The Jaguarundi (Puma yagouaroundi) looks similar to a weasel. These wild cats have long and slender bodies with short legs and small flattened heads, short, rounded ears, and long tails. Jaguarundi makes their home in Central and South America.

The Andean Mountain Cat (Leopardus jacobita) is a wild cat that is rarely seen because it lives in the mountains of Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile at altitudes above the tree line. These wild cats grow to only about two feet in length and have long bushy tails giving them a useful counterweight for roaming around the mountains.

The Rusty-spotted Cat (Prionailurus rubiginosus) is among the cat family’s smallest members and found only in India and Sri Lanka. Due to their size, they are known as the hummingbirds of the cat world.

The Margay (Leopardus wiedii) looks like an ocelot but is much smaller. These wild cats have long legs making them excellent tree climbers. They live from Mexico down through Brazil where they hunt during the night time in the rain forest.

Pampas cats (Leopardus pajeros) are about the size of a large domestic cat and are native to the Pampas region in South America. These wild cats have white to gray or brown fur, often with spots and stripes. They enjoy feeding on rodents, wild birds, and poultry.
