Winning isn't just a thing. It's Everything.

Now I know what you're thinking. In most cases, there can only be one winner or one team of winners. So, Connor does that make the rest of us losers?? And my answer to that is absolutely not.

First off, we have to identify what winning actually is. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition of winning is, "successful especially in competition." Now, I know that doesn't provide much more clarity BUT even that definition gets me closer to what I'm trying to get at. A "competition" doesn't have to be the CrossFit Games or the Tour De France. It doesn't have to be the World Series or the World Cup. Not even close. Competition can be something as simple as waking up to your alarm clock without hitting snooze, giving your absolute all in your workout that day, saying no to the cake because you said you were going to give up cake for the month. You see, winning is all around us. The choices we make every single day are either winning choices or losing choices. They either move the needle toward our goals or they push it further away. Winning is not just what's on the scoreboard because if it was 99% of us would be losers. But we're not. Because what winning actually is is you attacking your goals, committing to what you do and the process of improving, and going to bed at night with the satisfaction that you gave your absolute all that day to move the needle closer to where you want to be while also being hungry for more the next day and the next and the next. That's winning.

To be clear, I'm not saying that winning isn't winning and that we are "all winners". Trust me, that's not really my style. What I am getting at is this idea that we can win in different ways every single day through the choices we make. That we can show up, work hard, and even if the results aren't exactly what we wanted we can still call it a win. Sometimes simply showing up instead of sleeping in will be a win for you. Sometimes it will be as simple as remembering to take out the trash on time. And yes, sometimes it will be as big and complex as winning the CrossFit Games. It's all relative to you and what matters most to your hopes and dreams. I'm a big believer in the idea that you either win or you learn. There is no losing unless you give up completely. That is what I would classify as someone who is losing.

Write down your goals, draw out the roadmap to get there and from there let every single decision that you make every single day be ones that move you closer to where you want to go. None of us are perfect and we all fail. But as long as we learn something from our mistakes and get back up and try again then we are on the path. The path to winning.

This is a deep topic and one that has many rabbit holes that we can dive down and I look forward to peeling back the layers and diving deeper and deeper into this idea. In my writing, you will constantly see me coming back to this idea of winning and what it really means to me.

Thanks for reading today and I truly hope that you enjoyed this! I look forward to continuing to provide you with my honest unfiltered thoughts on a daily basis. Have a Great Day!

Now there's only one thing left for you to do...

GET AFTER IT.
