Continuous messages on smartphone and computer screens keep us busy. Maybe they are doing more harm than good to us. We feel that we must answer, because it is a work-related thing, but being constantly connocyected means that we do not get a chance to think deeply. This is the problem for companies that want to get the most from their employees. A person wants to change the way we do things. According to him, it will need to be fixed for the next big revolution in the offices. They believe that how valuable a person is to a company will be judged not by his skill but by his ability to concentrate. The question is also, how do we take time to stop distracting things and do our best work?

Focus is important

Cal is a professor at Newport Georgetown University and has written several bestseller books including "Deep Work and Digital Minimalism".

They say that our offices are made in terms of facilities, not to get the best work out of our mind.

In the knowledge sector jobs, where the products are manufactured in human intelligence rather than machines, there is a need to always be connected (to the network) and be ready to handle many tasks simultaneously.

These two things are not conducive to deep, creative and sharp thinking.

Newport says, "The main resource in the work of knowledge is our brain and its ability to generate new information, but we are not able to take advantage of it."

Some people tend to do many things at once, while we know that our brain has difficulty focusing on more than one thing at a time.

Psychologists had previously thought that people working together have unusual control over their attention.

But the evidence shows that they have no such gift (given by God). In reality, multitaskers lag behind in many brainstorming tasks.

Limited capacity

The capacity of human mind is limited. They can do the same amount of work in a given time.

During the work, by stuffing many things in it, there is a high risk of damage to the place of profit.

Newport says that staying connected all the time (from the network) and hoping to respond quickly makes our lives miserable.

"It does not match the social circuit of our brain. We don't like that someone is waiting for our answer. It makes us restless."

It is very easy to reply quickly on email, slack or other messaging apps. If we do not do this, we feel guilty and we hope that we will do this.

Newport says that it keeps filling our minds. "Knowledge sector employees are now responsible for more things than before email. It makes us rash."

"We should think how to get the meaningless things out of the mind and reduce the work."
