Hi everyone! Is everyone ready?

Wait, hang on a minute! Ready for what? You may ask. Don't worry, I'll explain.

With all the scary events occurring all around us, it's difficult to make time for yourself and adapt to new ways of spending our days at home. The likelihood of us going on a physical journey, again, is difficult. So why not take on a digital journey together and explore new things?

Before I start, however, I think the most important thing to clarify for myself, and you - the reader, the purpose of this blog. So, I would like to introduce myself, the purpose of Chic Chig, and what this blog is all about.

Hope you enjoy it!

Who are you?

My name is Anko and the writer behind Chic Chig.

I am a Mongolian post-graduate student studying in the UK (Sadly, I don't know the queen but I have been to Buckingham Palace) and have always wanted to share my ideas and thoughts with the public.

I moved to England from Mongolia back in 2009 and have lived in Tokyo for 2 years. My favorite motto in life is "Amor Fati" - love your fate. Moving half-way across the world, there were a lot of things that surprised me, shocked me and there were just as many things for me to learn. Keeping up with the changes can be very disorientating at times, but keeping a mental note has helped me overcome certain cultural shocks. So hopefully this blog will help me stay on top of things.

What do you do?

Currently, I major in Global Supply Chain Management at the University of Leeds. My bachelor's degree was in Japanese and Asia-Pacific Studies. I will be moving to Japan in the near future (So be sure to keep an eye out for future blog posts on how to move to Japan and life in Japan).

Aside from studying, I like to watch Anime and Asian Dramas, listen to classical music, and look into self-development through books, YouTube, and social media platforms. I'll be sure to further delve into my interests in the coming weeks and share what I learn over time.

My latest projects are:

  1. Growing an Avacado Plant
  2. Learning how to play the piano
  3. Improving my communication skills

What is Chic Chig and Who is it for?

Much like all of you, the current pandemic has taken quite a toll on my daily life and that's where Chic Chig comes into play.

The word "Chig" actually means "direction" in Mongolian and as such, I want to create a better direction for my life and share my journey with all of you.

"Those who do not move, do not notice their chains." - Rosa Luxemburg.

Whilst I don't know how Chic Chig will develop in the future, I hope to create a supportive community for people who want to explore Life in a Different Country, Minimalism, Bullet Journalling, and Self-Improvement. A lot of YouTubers and content creators do cover these topics, but I always end up feeling like its not clear enough or is scripted in some way.

After watching a video, or reading an online post I always walk away thinking that I haven't really gained any new information. So I hope to fill in that gap and make content that is like a 'go-to' handbook with a new post every week to combat those Monday Blues!

With Chic Chig, I want to make sure that all of my posts are cited and well informed, whilst maintaining total transparency. On occasions, there will be posts in Mongolian as well to support Mongolian students who want to study and work abroad. So there will be content that is very niche (but useful! I promise.)

Ready... Set... GO!!!

So now you know who I am, what Chic Chig is, and what kind of content I will be creating. Let's get going, shall we?

I'll see you again on Monday!
