What to do with the 4:30 p.m. dilemma

"What to do with the 4:30 p.m. dilemma"

“The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Work is the key to success, and hard work can help you accomplish anything.” – Vince Lombardi

"What to do with the 4:30 p.m. dilemma"

No one person is born fantastic.

This trait is prodded, nurtured and developed until it becomes a seedling capable of sustaining itself.

What does it take to aspire to this level of great achievement in life?

It requires an innate ability to be real with as few chameleon acts as possible.

Being real implies ridding oneself of the infamous ego.

It is rare to see this in society today, as the norm is not fantastic but the total opposite, i.e. plain, common, logical, rational, customary, reasonable, credible, unimaginative and so on and so on.

Are you yawning yet?

There are a lot of beautiful people that just love putting in time, watching the clock and thinking of everything else than what they should be focused on. At times, their constant online activity derails their ability to do their job effectively.

Someone once said that the internet actually began eons ago.

They didn’t have the internet frequency at the time however they were always able to post on their own cave walls with images and comments.

How much has really changed since the dawn of civilization?

I recall the following, at a seminar years ago.

I am sure that it was a pre-COVID-19 scenario.

It goes something like this.

This is their usual daily schedule at 4:30 p.m.

At 4:30 p.m., they begin to wind down the day by cruising the office with high five’s and exchanging comradery .

At 4:40 p.m., they make a dash for the bathroom before they exit for the day.

At 4:50 p.m., they slip on their running shoes and tie up their laces like professional athletes ready to compete in the 100-yard dash.

At 4:59 p.m., they position themselves with legs spread ready to dart out of the building.

At 5:00 p.m. they are already in their vehicle that was parked in reverse, ready to exit without backing into the parking lot.

At 5:05 p.m., the parking lot is empty.

Their work ethic will improve as soon as they rid themselves of the daily ritual at 4:30 p.m.

Got work ethic?

Here is Will Smith’s take on the latter.

"I've never viewed myself as particularly talented. I've viewed myself as…slightly above average in talent. Where I excel is with a ridiculous, sickening work ethic. While the other guy's sleeping, I'm working. While the other guy's eating, I'm working. While the other guy's making love, I mean, I'm making love, too, but I'm working really hard at it!"

How do we nurture this work ethic idea so it becomes reality?

"Life is rather like a tin of sardines—we're all of us looking for the key." – Alan Bennett

All that anyone wants is the key so we can all can figure out what, when, where, why, and how we need whatever it is that we need.

Today everyone is an expert and everyone is an influencer of sorts.

Of course, there are Mega, Macro, Micro, Advocates, Referrers, and Loyalist influencers.

The question to ask is, “What have they really done?

Talk is cheap and it comes either in the form of air talk or real talk that is backed up by solid life experiences.

Air talk always signifies what people want to hear.

Real talk signifies the straight goods with no hidden agendas, sidebars or any other BS.

For example, Sales Professional influencers can only pitch the real talk regarding sales, if they have actually gone out into the real world and actually cold called companies or individuals and as a result influenced them into purchasing their products or services.

Action is the key.

My acronym for act is always creating things.

Excellence is defined as a commitment to completion and Earl Nightingale’s quote, “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal”, is rock solid.

Words are only words but action speaks volumes, so what six things are you going to create and accomplish each day in order to fulfill your worthy ideal?

Your worthy ideal is anything that inspires you with proactive action and motivates you with intense passion.

You’ve got this.

Carpe Momentum.
