What Integrity Really Means in Wellness and Why It Can’t Be Compromised

By Nodari Rizun, Founder & CEO of Pürblack

When I first set out to develop Pürblack, a wellness brand centered on the powerful and natural substance known as shilajit resin, my goal was not to create a product; it was to build trust and community. My intention was to create a brand rooted in transparency, science, and care that stood for something meaningful. The kind of trust built between a brand and the person opening a jar each morning, looking for something real to support their health. That trust takes time to cultivate and can only be earned through consistent honesty. To cultivate that trust, one principle was essential: integrity.

Pürblack was founded over a decade ago, but its development took years of slow and steady improvement. Between 2010 and 2015, I immersed myself in the world of shilajit, reviewing clinical research, studying historical uses, and experimenting with purification and sourcing methods. My background in law, civil rights, and academic research shaped an approach that was rigorous, skeptical, and intentional in avoiding the hype that often surrounds wellness trends. By immersing myself, I was able to stay grounded and avoid the hype surrounding health trends and supplements.

After spending a couple of years refining the concept, I became aware of a larger wellness industry landscape. In this space, the temptation of shortcuts is all too common. You see it in fancy packaging, covering up poor-quality ingredients or vague origin stories being used more for appeal than authenticity.

The realization of the need for change became a turning point. Since the beginning, I knew the company had to take a different path, one rooted in values rather than instant growth and profit. Instead of rushing to market or chasing popularity, our team prioritized quality, science, and ecological responsibility. The product’s formulation, testing protocols, and even its sourcing locations were shaped by a desire to retain the integrity of shilajit as both a substance and a tradition. That also meant being highly considerate of the ecosystems and communities from which the resin is harvested, and ensuring that sustainability was never compromised.

We avoid vague formulations. We welcome questions, share out testing, and always stay transparent, because that’s how real trust is built.

Purity, to us, is more than just a buzzword or a box to check off. It’s the foundation of every decision we make. We source from remote high-altitude locations and refine with techniques that preserve all the minerals and nutrients. It costs more and takes more time, but it's worth it, because our customers' health and trust are invaluable. Our commitment to purity extends to the remote locations from which we harvest the shilajit; the long-term health of our planet is directly tied to the purity we put into our bodies.

When a product is pure, the consumer receives numerous benefits, including improved absorption, enhanced potency, and a reduced risk of contamination. Many customers report feeling steadier energy, greater precision, and faster recovery. These results are a direct consequence of an uncompromising product that delivers what nature intended: shilajit in its most bioavailable form.

What is often overlooked in conversations is that purity and honesty aren’t always the most profitable path. Maintaining integrity means saying no to major retailers who might ask you to compromise your standards to meet price points. Our goal isn’t to be the biggest brand; it’s to have the most integrity with our customers.

Wellness should be built on care, honesty, and a deep respect for the people who trust us with their health and well-being. That is the kind of integrity the industry needs more of and the standard I will continue to hold myself to, no matter what.
